WE GO ABOVE & BEYOND TO MAKE YOUR EVENT EXTRAORDINARY
Personal &Attentive- We find out exactly what you want & do out utmost make it happen for you. We try to get to know our clients and their story so we can get a vibe for how they want their event to go.
Planning Partners- Working with a professional wedding or event DJ is a partnership. A DJ should be open to your musical preferences, and flexible enough to accommodate them. We usually ask for your music in advance. Effective planning is what makes any wedding or event run smoothly. With our planning timeline sheet, we can make sure we have all your requests beforehand. But if inspiration should strike day-of, we’re able to add songs on the spot. That’s how we can be both prepared and flexible. We are always early and never caught off guard.
Experienced- Hundreds of fun & successful events under our belt. What that translates to for you and your event is that you always get an experienced professional. In fact, most of our event and wedding DJs have 10 years or more working in the industry. When you book with us, you know you’re getting quality and experience
THE BEST MUSIC & ENTERTAINMENT FOR YOUR EVENT- It's your wedding, your special day, and your music. No judgement here. We do recommend that you keep in mind all the guests ages and music preferences. We try to mix it up, so there's a little something for everyone to enjoy. Most DJs can and will play all genres but we do have different DJs available for specialty requests. For example if you want a Bilingual Tejano DJ, or a DJ who specializes Texas Red Dirt, or House or EDM, or one that mixes rap/hip-hop, rock, or country, we will do our best to accommodate.
Energy- The anticipation is building and now all you need is the perfect music. You can leave it to chance and hope your home speakers and Spotify account work…or you can let us do what we do to keep your dance floor hot all night. Want a phenomenal anniversary party, birthday party, or community event? We’ll make sure you have a blast with all of your friends. Just tell us when and where and we’ll be there to keep your DANCE FLOOR bumpin’ all night.
Memories- We promise you’ll have a memorable celebration. You’ve waited for this day for a long time. Now, it’s going to be a reality. We customize the music to fit you. Our preparation starts early with our initial consultations. Let us know what songs you like – we’re not here to judge. But we also do so much more than just play music, we inject life into the party.

Dear KRIS with a K,
I just wanted to say thank you so much for DJing our wedding at Market at the Mill in Clifton! The music/the lights/ announcements/ etc were all flawless!
You did an amazing job and the kids absolutely loved everything you played! The kids asked about the custom song you played for them to listen to and asked if it was something they could get a copy of? They absolutely loved it as did we all. Everyone had such a great time.
Thanks again, you're the best and I'll be recommending you to all who need a DJ!
Sincerely,
-Sarah (groom's mom)

Kris was great to work with! He was recommended by my wedding planner and I see why! We ended up getting the light show for dancing and he included a monogram with our names and it was a huge hit! He also had us fill out a getting to know us background sheet that made the music tailored very well to our preferences. He even played some songs about where my husband grew up (so cool). It was a great time for everyone in no small part due to his help! Thank you Kris!

Great DJ!! Kris with a K Entertainment provided music and dance lights as well as MC duties for our Sorority / Fraternity Celebration and he came highly recommended. I can see why. He was also able to secure a photo booth package at a good price at the last minute which was also a big hit at our event. We will be using him again next year as well. We already booked it! He is a great DJ and knows his music in all genres! Thanks Kris!
Stephanie V. recommends Kris with a K Entertainment
We used Kris as the DJ for my wedding as did my sister who got married a year before us and referred us to him. I see why he is so highly recommended. We were stressed about having to plan a wedding but he helped so much with the timeline and song selections. Weddings by Brandi (Kris’ wife and our day of coordinator) was super helpful as well making sure the event flowed smoothly so we got all our activities in. We had a wide variety of guests and musical tastes and all ages (from 8 to 80 as they say) had so much fun. He knows how to pick the right songs at the right time. He was fantastic! I highly recommend them both for all your wedding needs.

Kris Definitely helped put us at ease . DJ Kris was so helpful and amazing with music selection. We had some hiccups due to our wedding party but nonetheless Kris and his wife, with Weddings By Brandi, were amazing and made sure the event went as scheduled and everyone had a good time!!!
Callie M. recommends Kris with a K Entertainment.
Kris and his wife, Brandi did such a great job at my wedding. He played all of the songs I requested and everything was done on time. We had such a good time dancing until we had to close it down due to the venue curfew. His wife, Brandi (Weddings by Brandi) was also super helpful with making sure we stayed on schedule and covered all our activities. Thanks so much Kris, for helping make my wedding everything I imagined!
Robin S. Married on 09/20/2019 5 stars out of 5 He Kept us dancing all night long! DJ Kris was great! He had a vast musical knowledge of all genres and kept us out dancing on the floor all night with a great mix of songs at our wedding! He provided dance lights as well as a custom projection light with our Monogram that we used for our koozies and shined it on the wall. He takes this very seriously and wants to get to know you as a couple to make your wedding the best it can be!!

Frequently asked questions
When should I book my DJ? A good time frame is at least six months before the event. However, we sometimes have DJs available for last minute events as well. Call today to check DJ availability.
What are your payment terms? All we need to get started from you is a retainer/deposit. That deposit holds your date and is applied to the total balance. Then the remaining balance is due two weeks before the event date. You’re free to use Venmo, cash, or check for payment. Paypal/Credit cards incur a small 3.5% processing fee. We can even work out a payment installment plan that suits you.
Will the DJ take requests?
Sure, we love to take song requests and will play most of them. But we also filter these requests. So if we get a request for a song that you’ve specified a “Do Not Play,” or doesn't fit well, we won’t play it. But, if someone requests a song that fits, we may try to play it. Remember that your DJ is experienced, and generally knows which tracks get the dance floor pumping or which ones may clear it out. We have the flexibility to react to the reactions of the crowd. We also offer the timeline worksheet for requests , so you can specify your tastes and favorite songs before the event.
Will the DJ work with our planner at the reception to ensure a smooth flow of events?
Absolutely. We have worked with most local coordinators and enjoy the interaction. Weddings by Brandi is our in-house Day of coordinator and also DJ Kris' wife who has coordinated many events for our clients.
Do I tip the DJ, coordinator, caterer, or photographer? This is not required at all, but we do not include a gratuity in the contract price. 10-15% is generally recommended if they did a great job, but it is entirely up to you.
Should we feed the DJ and other vendors?
This is appreciated but not required. Typically, the caterer or coordinator will set aside a meal for the vendors if requested by the client. If not, let us know and we'll bring our own snacks.
What services do you offer?
We offer DJ and lighting services for wedding ceremonies and receptions, corporate events, private parties, and lots of school functions. We offer lighting options (uplighting and dance floor lighting) and have photo booths available as well.
How many songs should I request?
You can select songs that you would like to hear at your event (as well as songs you don’t want to hear) on our DJ Timeline worksheet. We are also very willing to suggest songs that have worked well at many of our past events for every activity form cake cutting, to processional songs. You can even send us a spotify playlist if you want so we get a sense of your tastes. The number of songs you request is totally up to you! We recommend giving your DJ at least 10-15 songs of different genres and artists that you would like to hear. A few songs/artists that you don’t want to hear is always helpful as well. If you end up requesting a lot of songs, just keep in mind the time constraints of your event.
About us
Kris knows weddings and events. He started DJing back in the 90's, long
ago with a couple speakers and cases full of CDs. Hey Kids, a CD is this old timey device used to play music. and a record is.... well, I digress. If you’re looking to get booties out of seats and feet on the floor,
then Welcome to KRIS with a K Entertainment—you’ve found your DJ company.
KRIS with a K Wedding Tips for Newlyweds
Here are just some helpful tips and ideas we’ve seen over the years at events.
Planning & Preparation
Hire a professional coordinator: Reduces stress and ensures smooth event flow. Make sure they communicate with you and all vendors to ensure arrival times, timelines etc.
Create unique, memorable invitations that reflect your personality or wedding theme. For example, concert-style tickets for save-the-dates/invites. Digital or paper works.
Choose a simple color theme (e.g., white with accents): This makes decor easier to find and more affordable. Add pops of color or metallic accents for variety.
Aim for a guest list of 150 or fewer: This helps manage costs and creates a more intimate atmosphere. Prioritize close family and friends.
Invite companies for potential free swag/coupons: Reach out to favorite brands (e.g., Chick-fil-A, Southwest, Coca-Cola) for possible wedding-day perks.
Prepare an emergency kit with essentials: items like safety pins, Tide stick, pain relievers, other meds, bandaids, acne patches, deodorant, perfume, makeup, and toothbrush.
Groom Tips
Stay relatively sober the night before: Ensures you're fresh and ready for the big day.
Eat breakfast and bring snacks: Keeps energy levels up throughout the day.
Schedule haircut 1-2 days prior: Allows time for the cut to settle while still looking fresh.
Prepare outfit the night before: Hang suit, socks, belt, etc., to avoid last-minute rushing.
Limit phone use and review vows: Stay in the moment and be prepared for the ceremony.
Spend time with parents: Creates meaningful memories before the ceremony.
Bride Tips
Hire professionals for hair and makeup: Ensures you feel confident and reduces stress; schedule to finish before the photographer arrives.
Test your shoes and practice dancing before the big day: Break in shoes and practice moving in your wedding attire to ensure comfort and confidence.
Consider first looks with parents or groomsmen: Creates emotional photo opportunities before the ceremony.
Stay with your spouse after the ceremony: Experience the full event together, avoiding separation by well-wishers.
Roles & Responsibilities
If you don’t have a coordinator, you can assign specific roles to each member of Wedding party:
Timeline Chief: Detail-oriented person to keep everything on schedule. Answer questions from guests and vendors. Communicate with Photog and DJ to keep things on schedule.
Belongings organizer: Ensures the couple's personal items (phone, keys, etc.) are where they need to be throughout the day.
Content creator: Captures all the behind-the-scenes moments on the couple's own phone for later viewing and posting.
Mood setter: Manages the getting-ready playlist and keeps spirits high; monitors hair and makeup progress.
Snack provider: Ensures the couple stays hydrated and fed, checks on food/ cake arrivals and line progress for guests. Can also help dismiss tables for dinner.
Family coordinator: Works with the photographer/DJ to gather family members for portraits, and activities for the day knowing both sides of the family.
Ceremony Ideas
Begin instrumental music around 30 minutes prior to the ceremony start so guests will begin seating.
Fanny pack guys/girls with upbeat music instead of flower girls. Gets the crowd hyped.
Guests get confetti cannons or bubbles before the ceremony for exit photos: Creates a festive atmosphere and stunning visual moments.
Have officiant announce phone photo time: Allows guests 60 seconds for photos, then request devices be put away. Photogs love this idea.
Include hand-fasting ceremony with family: Incorporate parents and grandparents in ribbon-tying ritual with symbolic colors. Or do the rope joining, unity sand or candle.
Reserve a special seat in memory of passed loved ones: Create a touching tribute with a sign listing names or with photos.
Use "Two families become One/ Pick a seat, not a side" signage: Encourages mingling and emphasizes the joining of two families.
Reception Tips
Focus mostly on good food, good music, and drinks: These are what guests remember most.
Have a basket of fans, blankets available and one with flip flops for ladies in heels.
Use a projector/TV to display a slideshow of newlyweds growing up, bridal photos, etc.
Money saving options:
Save on disposable cameras: Use QR code signs for pics app with shared album.
Venue: try a park with a covered pavilion with proper permits. (make sure you have electricity, bathrooms, and watch the weather).
Bar: Set up a decorative self-serve station with beer, wine, and seltzers.
Decor: DIY with handmade centerpieces, candles, and simple flower arrangements.
Food: Try a buffet, food trucks, or pizza, and pre-dinner charcuterie tables.
Dessert: Buy at Sam’s/HEB (they have tiered cakes). Use cupcakes, Cookies, pastries, on a dessert table for after dinner. Or have a Pinata shaped like a wedding cake with mini bottles inside. “Take a Shot- We Tied the Knot” - How Fun!
Other Fun Reception Ideas
Creative alternatives for guest books: Have guests sign Jenga pieces or cornhole boards, Make a Polaroid wall, use photo booth strips in a book, or audio recordings on an old-timey phone.
Bouquet idea. Dedicate it to your mom and present it to her on the floor. If a friend is getting engaged soon, Act like you're tossing it, but just hand it to her. Make sure first!
Instead of Bouquet/garter, toss a T-shirt that says “LOOKING FOR A WIFE/ A HUSBAND” and make them wear it the rest of the night. LOL!
Offer fun activities: For tables, make Newlywed games- Mad libs, crosswords, etc, Lawn games, temporary tattoo station, caricature artist, face painting, or blackjack dealer.
Use unique table numbers with childhood photos: Number tables corresponding to the couple's ages in displayed photos. “When we were 1 -2 -3, etc”
Make sure the DJ has a list of songs for dances as well as a Must Play or Do Not Play list. Keep in mind music for all ages of guests and mix it up for everyone’s tastes.
Don’t forget the moms. Halfway through the Daddy/Daughter dance, ask husband to get your mom to dance the rest of the song. Touching and this way, mom has a dance too.
Keep introductions and dances concise: Consider group entrances for the wedding party or groomsmen group, then bridesmaid group, and limit dance songs to 3-4 minutes. You can practice ahead of time and tell the DJ to look for dip & kiss as the cue to fade out song.
Consider an anniversary dance for all married couples to join newlyweds on dance floor.
Photo & Video Tips
Get a Photo Booth or a 360 Spin booth near the dance floor: So much Fun and perfect memories/keepsakes for all the guests plus You get a copy of all the photos.
Do a "first look" with both sets of parents: Captures emotional moments before ceremony.
Consider special effects such as Spark Machines, Lighting, LED foam tubes, or Bubbles to enhance the atmosphere and photo/video moments.
Arrange for group photo opportunity with the couple: Announce a time for guests to take photos with the newlyweds on the dance floor or do a photo dash song for each table.
Speeches - Practice speaking loudly. Hold the mic correctly. Keep it short and end with toast.
Best Man: Share a funny story about the groom, highlight his growth since meeting the bride, toast to their future.
Maid of Honor: friendship story, praise the bride's best qualities, toast to the couple's love.
Parents (optional): Share a heartwarming memory, welcome new spouse, toast to future.
Couple (optional): Appreciation for family and friends coming, share a special memory, toast to your new life together.
End of Night Checklist -Assign responsibilities for:
Signed marriage license: Designate someone to safeguard and submit the document.
Leftover food, alcohol, decor, and cake: Who will take these items and where they'll go.
Couple's belongings and transportation: Ensure someone gathers all personal items and confirms transportation arrangements.
Who will stay behind to help with clean up, tables, chairs, etc.
Common Regrets to Avoid
Not hiring a coordinator, DJ, photographer, or videographer: These professionals help create and capture lasting memories.
Drinking too much: Moderation helps you stay present and remember your special day.
Having too large a guest list: An intimate gathering is more meaningful and manageable.
Spending too much time away from reception for photos: Balance portrait time with enjoying your guests and the celebration.
And Lastly,
Remember: Breathe, let go of perfection, and enjoy your special day! Your love is what truly matters.
